Closing Wheels provides control of the pneumatically controlled closing wheels.
NOTE: Avoid adversely affecting the downforce on the row units. Verify the downforce application on your row units after adjusting the closing wheel force.
Status Indicators— indicates the current Status of the closing wheel system and any errors that are detected.
Down Pressure— the slide bar provides a visual representation of the set-position shown in the box above the positive and negative buttons. The buttons and the input box allow you to adjust the pressure. |
Down Pressure |
Synchronize— allows you to adjust both closing wheel groups using a single input. |
Synchronize Groups |
NOTE: The closing wheel groups are shown separately unless you synchronize them.
Unsynchronize— allows you to adjust each closing wheel group independently. |
Unsynchronize Groups |
Current Position— shows the current pressure of the closing wheel setting. |
Current Pressure |
Minimum - position 0 applies approximately 9 kg (20 lb) of force with rubber closing wheels and 27 kg (60 lb) of force with cast iron closing wheels.
NOTE: Position 0 maintains a minimum air pressure in the pneumatic springs.
Intermediate - positions 1 through 4 mimic the 4 positions of mechanical closing wheels.
Maximum - position 5 applies 32 kg (75 lb) of additional downforce beyond the capability of mechanical closing-wheel position 4.
New Target Position— indicates that the air pressure is adjusting to reach a new target position. |
New Target |
NOTE: The Status indicator flashes while the system is adjusting the air pressure. See Closing Wheels in Advanced Settings to set up the leak detection feature.
Obtained Target Position— indicates that the target position and current position match. |
Obtained Target |
NOTE: See Closing Wheels in Advanced Settings to turn the Groups ON/OFF. |
Advanced Settings |
Soil conditions change. Light, loose soil requires less pressure to close the seed furrow.
You change the seed depth. Shallow seed placement requires less pressure to close the seed furrow.
Select a positive or negative button to adjust the value. Both the slide bar indicator and the value in the box change by the increment entered in Advanced Settings. |
Closing Wheels |
NOTE: Closing-wheel down pressure can affect seed placement and depth. Do not use more force than necessary to close the seed furrow, especially in light soils.
Select the box (showing the set-position) so the yellow outline appears around the box.
