Theory of Operation

Section Control automatically controls machine or implement sections when entering and exiting previously covered areas.

Section Control determines when to turn a section on or off based on the following factors:

  • GPS position

  • Coverage map

  • Machine and implement offsets

  • Section status

  • Overlap settings

  • Mechanical delay

  • Field boundaries

  • Headland boundaries

Section Control sends a CAN Bus message to the machine or implement controller to change section status. Section is turned ON to apply product to an area. It is turned OFF to prevent reapplication of product in the same area.

Section Control Accuracy

The following factors impact Section Control performance:

Example Planter Configuration

12 Row, 6 Section, 2 Drive Motor Planter Configuration

  1. Variable rate drive motors determine seed rate in work data.

  2. Sections turn on and off with Section Control and determine coverage (work state) in work data.

  3. Row Units

NOTE: Sections (B) cannot be set up across drive motors (A).
