Select toggle button to turn the TCM On or Off. |
|
When the TCM is turned Off, the StarFire GPS message is not corrected for machine dynamics or side slopes. TCM defaults to On after power is cycled.
NOTE: To engage AutoTrac, the TCM must be turned On.
TCM must be calibrated so that the receiver can determine zero degree roll angle and pitch angle. |
CAL |
NOTE: Calibrate the TCM when it is attached or reattached to the machine. Receiver does not require recalibrating until it is removed from the machine and reattached.
Positioning Machine during Calibration
When calibrating, position the TCM at the same angle when facing either direction. If the roll angle is positive 2 degrees when facing one direction, place the machine negative 2 degrees when facing the opposite direction. To position the TCM at the same angle, place the tires in the same location when turning around the machine and facing the opposite direction.
Once the machine is parked on a hard, flat surface, note the location of the tires on the ground. When turning around, use the following instructions:
Floating Front Axle Machine (MFWD, ILS, TLS) — Place the rear axle / wheels in the same location when performing a 2-point calibration.
Fixed Axle Wheels or Tracks Machine (Track Tractors, 47X0 and 49X0 Series Sprayers, and 9000 and 9020 Series Wheel Tractors) — Place all in the same location when facing either direction.
Calibration Surface
The machine must be on a hard, flat, and level surface for calibration. An offset is created if the TCM is not calibrated on a level surface. An offset is also created if the TCM mounting angle is not level in relation to the machine angle. For example, the StarFire mounting bracket or machine cab is slightly offset, or tire pressures are uneven from one side of the machine to the other.
This offset could look like a consistent skip or overlap in pass-to-pass operation. To eliminate the offset, recalibrate on a level surface. Then drive down a pass, turn around, and drive down the same pass in the opposite direction. If the machine does not follow the same pass, measure the offset distance and enter it in the implement offset.
After the initial calibration of the TCM, it is not necessary to calibrate again unless the TCM angle in relation to the machine has changed. For example, tire pressure has been lowered on one side of the machine, causing the machine angle in relation to the ground to change.
TCM Calibration Procedure
Select Calibration button.
Park the machine on a hard, level surface and come to a complete stop.
Select Enter button.
Calibrating Status bar appears.
Turn the machine 180° to face opposite direction. Ensure that the tires are in the proper location for fixed or floating front axle and that the machine has come to a complete stop.
Select Enter button.
