Frame Control | Transport (1795)

Frame Control | Transport (1795) describes the procedure to manually control the implement functions for folding and unfolding.

CAUTION: Only transport the implement on a roadway if the seed hoppers and dry pesticide hoppers are less than half full and the liquid fertilizer or water tanks are empty. (See cleanout procedures in the implement Operator's Manual.)

Items Accessible on Frame Control | Transport Page:

Stop Movement Screen Area

IMPORTANT: Avoid unexpected frame movement. Do not place selective control valve (SCV) in detent. Select Stop at any time to halt most frame fold functions. If the SCV remains engaged while the rear rank (rockshaft) rows are lowering, the rows will continue to lower even though the Stop button is selected.

Markers SCV Screen Area

OFF— select to disable all frame control functions on the markers SCV.

OFF

Drawbar— select to enable the drawbar function.

Drawbar

NOTE: The Markers SCV screen area only appears if your implement is equipped with a drawbar-type hitch. The drawbar and independent markers share an SCV that is separate from the frame height SCV.

Procedure to Modify:

CAUTION: Verify that everyone is clear of the machinery before folding. Serious injury or death can result from contact with electric lines. Use care when moving or operating this implement near electric lines.

Perform the Fold and Unfold procedures as follows. To raise and lower the implement with the frame folded (for service or seed fill), see Raise and Lower While Folded further down this page.

FOLD:

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage. If you have the coulter and row cleaner combination on the front rank rows and those rows have short parallel arms, do not fold with the row cleaners in the raised (disengaged) position.

  1. Prepare to fold in an area with firm, level ground that is away from obstructions.

  2. Lower the implement and maintain the SCV lever in the engaged position for a few seconds to rephase the lift hydraulics.

  3. Raise the implement.

  4. Place the tractor transmission in neutral.

  1. Select the Transport mode.

Transport

  1. Raise the implement hitch until it is level with the ground.

NOTE: Use this method each time the hitch is adjusted.

  • Equipped with a Drawbar Hitch: Enable the drawbar function. Select Drawbar and engage the marker SCV.

Drawbar

  1. Enable the fold function. Select Wing Fold.

Wing Fold

  1. Engage the frame height SCV and fold the wings until the wing latches are near the implement hitch.

NOTE: If the wing wheels push soil, drive the tractor forward to coordinate the hitch movement.

  1. To avoid interference, observe and adjust the hitch position while completing the fold process.

  1. Raise the hitch until it engages the wing latches.

  1. Enable the rear rank lift function. Select Rear Rank Lift.

Rear Rank Lift

  1. Engage the frame height SCV and raise the rear rank (rockshaft rows).

  1. Enable the wing wheel lift function. Select Wing Wheel Lift.

Wing Wheel Lift

  1. Engage the frame height SCV until the wing wheels are raised. Adjust the hitch height as the frame raises so the hitch remains level.

NOTE: The main frame raises to the transport height while the wing wheels raise.

  1. Disable the fold function. Select OFF. If equipped with a drawbar, disable the drawbar function as well.

OFF

  1. Install the service locks on the center-frame wheel cylinders and the rockshaft cylinders. If equipped with a drawbar hitch, install the service lock on the drawbar cylinder. (For more information, see the implement Operator's Manual.)

  1. Follow all recommendations outlined in the implement and tractor Operator's Manuals during transport.

NOTE: Leave the frame control in Transport mode during transport. The Transport mode disables the individual row hydraulic downforce, reduces the downforce to a minimal setting, and avoids trouble codes during transport.

UNFOLD:

  1. Prepare to unfold in an area with firm, level ground that is away from obstructions.

  2. Raise the implement.

  1. Enable the rear rank lift function. Select Rear Rank Lift.

Rear Rank Lift

  1. Engage the frame height SCV and raise the rear rank cylinder off the service locks.

  1. Enable the wing wheel lift function. Select Wing Wheel Lift.

Wing Wheel Lift

  1. Engage the frame height SCV to raise the frame cylinder off the service locks.

  1. If equipped with a drawbar hitch, enable the drawbar function. Select Drawbar.

Drawbar

  1. Engage the marker SCV to raise the drawbar cylinder off the service locks.

  2. Remove the service locks from the center-frame wheel cylinders and the rockshaft cylinders. If equipped with a drawbar hitch, remove the service lock from the drawbar cylinder. (For more information, see the implement Operator's Manual.)

  3. Place the tractor transmission in neutral.

  4. Adjust the implement hitch to a level position.

NOTE: Use this method each time the hitch is adjusted.

  • Equipped with a Drawbar Hitch: Enable the drawbar function. Select Drawbar and engage the marker SCV.

Drawbar

  1. Enable the wing wheel lift function. Select Wing Wheel Lift.

Wing Wheel Lift

IMPORTANT: The Stop button does not halt the rockshafts from lowering if the SCV remains engaged.

Stop

  1. Engage SCV I until the wing wheels are lowered. Adjust the hitch height as the frame lowers so the hitch remains level.

NOTE: The main frame lowers to the field position while the wing wheels lower.

  1. Lower the hitch until the wing latches are higher than the hitch.

IMPORTANT: To avoid interference, observe and adjust the hitch position until the latches clear the hitch.

  1. Enable the fold function. Select Wing Fold.

Wing Fold

  1. Engage the frame height SCV and unfold the wings.

NOTE: If the wing wheels push soil, drive the tractor backward to coordinate the hitch movement.

  1. Disable the fold function. Select OFF. If equipped with a drawbar, disable the drawbar function as well.

OFF

  1. Select the Plant mode.

Plant

  1. Follow all recommendations outlined in the implement and tractor Operator's Manuals to verify the proper implement frame height, configuration, and setup.

Raise and Lower While Folded

Raise and Lower While Folded describes which frame operations allow you to raise and lower the frame while folded. Follow the same guidelines outlined for folding and unfolding, but use the following functions specifically.

Procedure to Modify:

Lower the Frame While Folded:

  1. Select the Transport mode.

  2. Select the Rear Rank Lift function.

NOTE: The rear ranks do not need to be lowered to fill the bulk tanks.

  1. Use the SCV to raise the rockshafts and then remove the service locks.

  2. Use the SCV to lower the rockshafts.

  3. Select the Wing Wheel Lift function.

  4. Use the SCV to lower the wing wheels.

NOTE: Maintain a level frame while lowering. Adjust the hitch height while lowering the frame.

  1. Select the Plant mode.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage to the row units. Adjust the hitch height while lowering the frame.

  1. Use the SCV to lower the implement to the ground.

NOTE: The service locks must be removed to lower the frame to the ground.

Raise the Frame While Folded:

  1. Select the Plant mode.

IMPORTANT: Avoid damage to the row units. Adjust the hitch height while raising the frame.

  1. Use the SCV to raise the implement.

  2. Select the Transport mode.

  3. Select the Rear Rank Lift function.

  4. Use the SCV to raise the rockshafts and then install the service locks.

  5. Select the Wing Wheel Lift function.
