Setup | Target Downforce Margin

Target Downforce Margin allows you to set a target for the downforce margin that results in a quality seed furrow and a smooth ride for the row unit.

Modify When:

• The disk openers are not penetrating the soil.

• The walls of the seed furrow collapse before the seed is delivered.

• The walls of the seed furrow are overcompressed.

• The seed depth is inconsistent.

• The seed spacing is inconsistent.

• The ground contact is lower than expected.

• The ride quality is lower than expected.

Procedure to Modify:

IMPORTANT: Avoid unsatisfactory results. Perform a field check to verify that the actual seed placement matches your goal. (See the field check procedure and implement adjustments in the implement Operator's Manual.)

NOTE: If the target downforce margin is so high that the sidewalls of the seed furrow are compacted, slow down and reduce the target margin until a balance between Ride Dynamics and furrow quality is achieved.
