Measuring Working Width

This measurement is width of area worked (tilled, planted, harvested, etc.) on a single pass through the field. For example, on a chisel plow, measure distance between each outside chisel, shovel, or sweep.

  1. Measure while machine and implement are in a straight-line, operating position.

  2. Implement dimensions may shift in operation. For best accuracy, measure dimensions with implement engaged in ground.

  3. Hold tape measure straight in vertical or horizontal directions.
